The heart of Surrender Birth is to equip, educate and encourage you to birth for the glory of God.  One of the ways we can come before the Lord and Surrender is to pour out our hearts in prayer.  But sometimes we just don’t know what to say.  We could never single-handedly cover all the ways in which you can pray and bring your heart before the Lord, but we’d like to put together some prayers you can pray to start.

Of course these prayers are just that: a start.  A way to begin calling out to the Lord in times when words seem lost and the asking might seem in vain.  Coming before the Lord with asking and praise is never in vain, and He desires to hear your deepest sorrows, concerns, requests and pleas, even down to the finest details.

So, mothers and fathers, use these prayers as a beginning spot.  A place to launch heart praise to the King of kings and SURRENDER!

Surrender Prayer Christian Childbirth

Blessing in Conception

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before you and thank you for the blessing of conception, the blessing of children, the gift of fertility.  We also praise you for the redemptive work you have done on the cross, for bearing our sins and the curse of man.  Through this redemption, we get to experience an intimate relationship with you, free from the bonds of sin and slavery to the world. Father, we are so blessed to be here, in your presence, carrying a child, and seeking to surrender to you in all areas of our lives. Bring the fruit from our womb to glorify you.  Psalm 127:3 “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.”

Guarding our Speech in Pregnancy

Father, in the name of your son Jesus Christ, redeemer of the world, we ask that you would guard our speech during this time of pregnancy and labor.  Keep us from speaking in fear and worry.  Keep us from giving life to words that defy your promises. Instead, help us speak words of life and expectation for your Glory.  Help us to speak words of blessing rather than curses. Help our words to give you praise, that it might trickle into our hearts and put all worry, fear, and question to rest. Remind us daily to use our words as tools of healing and prophecy. Proverbs 12:18 “There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”

Forming a Healthy Baby

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before you today and ask that you would create this child perfect, in your image.  That all parts and pieces would be perfectly built and placed to form this child without flaw.  Give this precious life perfect health.  Father, knit and create this child to worship and serve you all their days.  Father, fill this baby’s lungs with the breath of your life and a desire to know you and live for you. Job 33:4 “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”

Fill us with the Truth

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we humbly ask that you would fill our hearts with the truth of your Word.  That we would remember your promises of Strength, Courage, Endurance, Hope, Comfort, Knowledge, Rest, Faith, Trust, and Patience. Help us, O Lord, to focus not on the deceptions of the flesh but the promises of the spirit. That we would grow and be sanctified in your truth and be filled with your Holy Spirit.  Walk with us each day, Jesus, that when we fall, you hold us up and when we doubt, you give us truth.  Help us to surrender to your unfailing, perfect love.  2 Peter 1:2-4 “May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”

Taking Captive Our Thoughts

Father, in the name of your son Jesus Christ, help me to take captive my thoughts each moment today. As I walk along the path, as I move around my home, as I interact with my children, as I love my husband and I care for my home, help me remember you are with me.  Remind me to surrender fully to your will and your plan, without question.  Help me to trust your timing, methods, process and plan.  Father, I love you and thank you for this perfect gift. Isaiah 40:31 “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Father, in the of Jesus, I ask you to remind me each day of your abundant, incredible and powerful Grace.  When I fall short, remind me of your Grace.  When I mess up, remind me of your Grace.  When I forget your truth and exchange it for a lie, remind me of your Grace.  Help me to be covered by your Grace as I walk this path of sanctification, as I grow in your word and in your promises.  Help me to fully Surrender, knowing your Grace is sufficient. 2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Prayers for Labor

Early Labor Signs

Father, in the name of Jesus your son, I come before you and ask you to aid me in Surrendering to you as my labor begins.  Guide and direct every moment of what is about to unfold.  Keep fear, anxiety, worry, exhaustion, nervousness and all other emotions I am bound to feel in my flesh, away.  Father, instead fill me with Strength, Courage, Endurance, Hope, Comfort, Knowledge, Rest, Faith, Trust, and Patience. Help me to Surrender to the Promises of your Word and Truth. Sanctify me through this process, draw me closer to you. Become my anchor, shelter, and rest. Phil. 4:19 “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Father, in the name of Christ, help my body to work just as you designed.  To open and prepare the baby in the best way possible.  Father, protect us as we journey today.  Bless us all through this process and bring this child into the world without hiccup.  Help me to relax and allow gravity and the contractions to do their job. Help me not to resist but to embrace your plan and the swelling of pressure as we bring our baby home. Father, give me breath when my breath feels shallow and fill my lungs with your hope.  Hold me close today, Lord, and we will Birth for your Glory! Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Jesus, we Surrender.  We Surrender to your Glory.  Praise you, Jesus, for all you are about to do. We trust you, draw near to you, we give you this day.

Transition/Harder Labor

Oh Jesus, it’s getting harder.  I’m feeling weak, tired, and torn.  Please, Jesus, lift me up to you.  Draw me closer.  Align all things, baby, body, and delivery.  Lead the baby into the birth canal and bring this to an end.  Father, help me to Surrender until the end.  Come into this place and give me rest, peace, comfort, and supernatural strength to get through this hard time.  Change my perspective, Jesus, that I would see things through your eyes.  That I would see the good through the challenging.  The beauty in the surrender.  Father, in this moment I throw myself at your feet, Jesus.  I need you now more than ever. Psalm 34:17 “When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask you to hold me up as I feel weak.  Meet me here in this place in the most tangible way.  Supernaturally fill me with your strength, power, and determination.  I need you now more than ever. I desire to birth for your Glory Jesus, but I cannot do it without you.  I give up all control.  I release all expectations beyond the faith to know you are with me.  You hold all things Jesus, so hold this now.  Hold me now.  Come on sweet baby, come and glorify Jesus. Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Father, in the name of your son, we ask you to line all things up now as we draw near. Align baby’s head and body. Direct him/her through the birth canal now and fill his/her lungs with your breath.  Come Jesus, in these final moments, be the everlasting rock of salvation in this room.  Fill it with your presence.  Let all those here witness your miraculous Glory.  1 Samuel 2:2 “There is no one holy like the LORD, Indeed, there is no one besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.”
