Are you over the moon excited to welcome that sweet bundle of joy growing in your womb this morning?  He/she is comfortably sleeping in the warmth of your safe body, growing perfectly how God formed him/her (even when perfection doesn’t meet our definition, God has created your child perfectly).  It truly is a miracle if you consider all the minute details of how your precious little one came to be formed in your womb.

Six kids in and I’m still blown away by the immense detail God used when creating conception.  The mind of God is incredible.  The power of God is even more incredible.  His perfect watch over our lives, never faltering, is something I rarely can fully comprehend; I even fail to welcome it at times. Because my mind can’t truly grasp the enormity of His hand in my life, I often fail to Surrender to Him.

As Abby talked about Monday, God creates us and sustains us.  There isn’t anything we do outside of His mighty hand, will, power and love. Right down to the moment we were conceived.  Even when life is hard, God makes no mistakes and never fails to see through His perfect will.

When we talked about Hope last time, we read this:

Hope has Certainty. The hope we see painted on the canvas of scripture implies a strong and confident expectation in our relationship with Christ. We have a confidence in who Christ is and who God the Father is, as we’ve read in scripture and seen this certainty of Hope plays out over and over again. It is “sure certainty that what God has promised in the Word is true, has occurred, and or will in accordance with God’s sure Word” (4). We believe, especially when in difficult situations where the outcome is unknown (sound familiar mamas?), that the hope we have in Christ will provide strength, comfort, endurance, and ultimately our best, that it may glorify God.  As Romans 8:28 reads, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

If God made us, and God sustains us, and He never fails to do what He has said He will do (which by the way He has said He will never leave us or forsake us in Deuteronomy 31:6), and we have an intimate relationship with Him….

Then we can be CERTAIN the HOPE we have in Christ will also never fail us, will sustain us, and will always result in better than we could ever do for ourselves.

Whew … read that again, slowly.  It’s okay, I’ll wait right here…

Sometimes things don’t always go the way we desire.  We couldn’t negotiate a perfect baby, we can’t control a perfect pregnancy, we suffer when we want to feel like we are living instead. And sometimes, for some people, things go smoothly: we barely notice the ills of pregnancy, we see this perfectly formed human growing in our womb, we fail to see the fuss of other mothers as they travel the road of pregnancy, labor and childbirth.

Regardless of your path, you will come to a point where you will need the HOPE that Christ offers through a relationship with Him.  You will need his strength, comfort, endurance, and ultimately His sustaining, mighty hand, in order to see any possibility of HOPE in your life or your circumstances.  When that day comes mamas, be encouraged.  Christ, our loving redeemer, offers the only CERTAIN hope we can fathom to have in life.

It is CERTAIN because God has always done and will always do what is best for His people, for those who are HIS. He is faithful.

His word is true.  His promises are real.  Our lives are meant to glorify Him. And He invites us to SURRENDER our lives, moment by moment to Him, that we may experience the most incredible Hope for a future we could ever know.  He sustains us.  Will you surrender today?
