This week we wanted to bring a message of LOVE to all you mommies out there, and daddies too, walking through this faith-filled life each week, each day, looking to see the hand of Christ.  There is so much joy in knowing how much God truly loves us, and in return how much we truly love Him.  Although sometimes experiences, seasons of life, and circumstances can rock us and bring us to our knees, making worshiping, following, and seeing Christ challenging, it never changes His LOVE for us or our LOVE for Him.

In pregnancy, labor, and child-rearing, we can often become distracted or even discouraged.  We exchange the TRUTH for LIES, and we believe we can do it on our own.  We forget to praise God in the storm. We forget to ask Him to enter into it with us.  We move our relationship with Him to the sidelines, because sometimes we are just barely getting by. We’ve all been there.  We’re all human.  We all need a reminder of how crucial Christ and His word are to our daily, moment-by-moment life. Let’s remember how we are rooted in love with Christ.

Surrender Birth Christian Childbirth Birth Testimonies Birthing for His Glory

When we follow Jesus we go through an incredible process of justification and sanctification; and through it all we are amazingly covered by God’s incredible grace.

Here at Surrender we’re describing this as being ROOTED, GROWING and COVERED.

We are Rooted in His love (justification), Growing in His Promises (sanctification), and Covered by His Abundant Grace.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. Col 2:6-7

This week, we want to talk about being ROOTED in His love.  This is the foundation for our journey with Jesus and our growth in His promises.

In a nutshell, justification is when we are declared righteous, made right with God (Romans 3:21-26).  Just that sentence alone could move me to tears.  His stripes … His blood … His merciful and perfect sacrifice given on the cross through HIS LOVE FOR US has made us right with God.

His atonement on the cross gave us access to a deep, enriching, personal relationship with the Father.  Because of Christ’s righteousness being imputed to those of us who receive Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21), we are called the righteousness of God.

At the moment we turn our lives over to Jesus, we become so deeply enriched and fortified by His love.  It is nothing of ourselves, but wholly the work of Christ. It is said best this way:

“Justification is the work of God where the righteousness of Jesus is reckoned to the sinner, so the sinner is declared by God as being righteous under the Law (Rom. 4:3; 5:1,9; Gal. 2:16;3:11).  This righteousness is not earned or retained by any effort of the saved.  Justification is an instantaneous occurrence with the result being eternal life.  It is based completely and solely upon Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross (1 Pet. 2:24) and is received by faith alone (Eph. 2:8-9).” (1)

HIS LOVE for us is so deep, so sacrificial, so eternal; it is what binds us to Him and drives us to serve Him with all our lives.

He (God) becomes what life is all about.  He becomes our heart’s one true desire.  Pleasing Him and praising Him out of love gives purpose.  Serving Him out of love gives praise. Not to earn some kind of favor, but because He has already shown it to us. Once we know Him as Lord and Savior, everything changes.

When we are in the midst of change, whether that looks like adding a sweet baby to your family, children who are growing and changing with confusing and challenging needs, a marriage is on its last thread that we desperately want to mend and repair…

Jesus’ love for you is so deep, and you are so richly planted into your relationship with Him; you cannot escape the reach of His love.

Psalm 139:7 states, “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?”

I enjoy thinking of it like trees.  I love this image.

We are planted firmly in God’s love because of His justification.  We cannot escape it. We are rooted in love, deep into the soil of Christ, nourished and fortified by our roots sinking deep into the earth.

As we grow in Christ, we are sanctified.  We grow in the promises of God, learning to SURRENDER to Him, day in and day out.  When the wind comes and blows us, we may lean and rock, but as we are sanctified in Christ, we come to know Him more deeply. We wash ourselves in His word which strengthens us in the Promises of God, in SURRENDERING to His will for our lives.

As we grow and inevitably fall short, we are covered by God’s incredible grace.  His unmerited favor for us, driven by His love for us, becomes a covering over our lives and hearts.

Dear sister, simply bask in the love of Christ in your life today.  Sink your roots deep into the soil of His love.  Nourish your heart and your mind in the washing of His word.  And when the wind storm comes or begins to brew … remind yourself of the incredible gift you have in His justification.
